This is why Obama has stated that he may forget about his promise of using public rather than private funding for his campaign. Why only accept about $80M for a campaign when you can raise even more?
But I keep forgetting that he is the champion of change, so this kind of thing shouldn't matter, eh?

It's true Obama said at one point he'd use public funds. But when McCain was running fourth in the GOP race, McCain actually signed the contract with the FEC for public funding (he was bankrupt at the time), then tried to back out, was denied withdrawal from the program, and then went ahead and exceeded spending caps for publicly funded campaigns anyway. Now he's in hot water with the feds, trying to appeal but getting nowhere due to usual bureaucratic delays. No one knows how this is going to play out, as it's estimated that a full hearing and decision will take two years to complete. The DNC is apparently considering pursuing a legal injunction to prevent McCain from spending anymore private funds until the matter is resolved. Incidentally, McCain has set up a separate fund to cover his legal expenses and is welcoming donations from his supporters. |

I just like to get under the skin of some of the more ardent Obama supporters here and the best way is to talk about Obama claiming to be the candidate of change, which is obviously not the truth.

If you're going to demagogue me, Arch, you might as well try to be original about it. Use some imagination, man.

Oh, come now. Archaea doesn't hate *everything.* Unless I'm mistaken, he likes hot women, expensive bikes, and tax cuts. When Obama starts promising those, I'm sure the Archaean will be happy to pledge his support.
