The Republicans got their establishment candidate. Now they can watch him lose.

Shenanigans in South Carolina and Florida gave McCain the nomination. I can't believe he's going to lose Florida.

McCain got the nomination by default because the religious right couldn't agree on someone. First the RR had Huckabee, Thompson, Thompson, Brownback, Tancredo and Hunter to choose from -- all pretty weak individually. McCain and Giuliani were the only "secular" candidates, with Romney trying to stradle the line between both. Giuliani self destructed through extremely inept campaigning, so McCain was the only one standing on that side. Then as each RR candidate fell out you had them either go to McCain, Huckabee or Romney. When Romney came up short his votes went to McCain instead of Huckabee. Some think Huckabee was in cahoots with McCain, but I think the reality is that McCain used Huckabee then hung him out to dry.
