Default Hello World

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

So are you, as I assume from your moniker, really a father of triplets? If so, wow! I bet you have some great stories. Anyway, welcome to the board.

Why, yes, I am a father of 3. GGB frat trips.

A few fun facts related to my experience:

1. Babies born Dec 9, 2004. By March 31, 2005, I had already changed my 1,000th diaper and stopped keeping track.
2. At the peak of the madness, we were going through about 35 bottles....a day. Keep in mind that little trips out of the NICU need to feed religiously...every few hours at least.
3. At the time, there were only 2 companies that manufacture a triplet stroller. Each one cost between $700-1000.
4. We stopped taking them on errands such as the grocery store or the mall...not because they did not like to go, but because we would be stopped and asked the same set of 5-10 questions, thereby turning a 30 minute trip into a 2 hour trip.
5. I bought Peg baby car seats to bring them home from the hospital. I asked the clerk what colors they had in stock. He said "Black, red, or brown." I said, "okay, I will take one of each." The clerk laughed and said, "Seriously, which one do you want."
6. We were at Disneyland one time and a woman came up and, trying to make conversation, said "I would kill myself if I were you!" I responded, "You should, anyway!"

All in all, it has been a great experience, and quite unique, which suits me fine. we love our little dudes and they have been a source of joy for us and our extended family. They are good little children, too, so we consider ourselves lucky.

I have a friend whose mother had triplets after he had already left home for college, marriage, etc. So one day I go to visit his sister, who was watching the babies. The tots were in three corners of the room and as soon as I entered they all started staring at me. As I walked around the room their little heads would turn like little turrets, always with the unblinking baby stare. I felt like they were triangulating, trying to get a lock on me. Triplets and beyond kind of creep me out, but I can sure respect all of the work that goes into taking care of them. I take for granted my peace and quiet.
