Default BYU RPI Projections

OK trust me, this is good stuff. Based on more analysis than I had time to do.

5-2 reg season, 2-1 in MWC tournament: final RPI #21, 6 seed based on RPI
5-2, 1-1: #29, 8 seed
4-3, 2-1: #30, 8 seed
4-3, 1-1: #35, 9 seed

I don't predict the seeds will be that high, but I do predict the RPI will be that high. It's a big ? as to how BYU will be treated by selection committee.

Yeah...but you forgot to add in the "BYU factor" in seeding.

You based your process as if it were 'fair'... with the BYU factor added in, we are always 2 seeds lower than where we 'should' have been placed.

Yes, tournament seeding seems to be a function of RPI, wins last ten games, record against top 50 and top 100, and last whether or not your team name is BYU.

When BYU effectively cuts in half the number of slots that are available to it (Sunday play issue) then I can see how that might be part of the problem of getting lower seeds than expected.

I'm not suggesting that BYU start playing on Sunday, just saying that they are limiting the options that the selection committee has in giving them the seed they deserve.

In my opinion, it is better for BYU to be a 12, 11 or 10 seed instead of an 8 or 9 seed because the 8 and 9 play #1 in the second game.

Baby steps. I'd like to at least win one game finally. That will go a long ways in building confidence in our young players and coaching staff and creating an expectation to build on.
