Default McCain and the supreme court

I tend to agree with this take. I don't think McCain's court appointments would be much different than Obama's. And even if Obama wins, the justices most likely to need to be replaced will all be liberal ones, which means the balance is not likely to change. For the record, I'm not voting for Obama or McCain.

Default Supreme Court

The Court will not change during the next 4-8 years. Even if Stevens and Ginsburg leave the court the Democrats will not allow anybody but a raving leftist to replace them.

McCain would not likely appoint a good nominee, but even if he did the poor fella would be Borked.

The Republicans have no issue to run on except fear of the Dems, so they warn us about the lifelong danger of the Court moving to the left if the Dems take the White House. It is a bogus argument but the best they have to offer.

You're missing an important point. It isn't just the supreme Court justices that are appointed by the Pres. There are tons of them in Fed judgeships. Those are the ones that scare me. Check out some of the decisions handed down by 7th district court and a few others. The liberal bias is changing our country and in my opinion, not for the best.

The 7th district court? What are you talking about?

You vastly overstate the ill effects a "liberal" judge could have at a district court level. There are appeals, and appeals of the appeals, and stare decisis and several other mechanisms to keep judges in check.

True, but just look at the 9th circus. Reversed constantly, approximately 3/4ths of the time. You don't want to see the other circuits following suit. Precedent means zip to that crew. A federal judiciary like that is the doomsday scenario. Fortunately, neither party keeps power long enough to full stack the courts.

The 9th Circuit gets reversed more b/c they decide a ton more cases than any other circuit; and the percentage of reversal is not that different than the other circuits. Cite: http://www.scotusblog.com/wp/wp-cont...atpack6-19.pdf. The difference is that the 9th circuit has some of the most high profile cases.

And one will be coming up shortly: "Under God," my friends, is going to get stricken from the Pledge of Allegiance very soon. The same judge who wrote the first opinion, and another absolute liberal, were on the panel. Do you hear that Goatnappy? No more "under God" for you in Idaho. The Court will take it and reverse, of course.
