Favre should do the Roger Clemmons thing and wait until about week 12 and then join a contender with a young QB that doesn't have playoff experience.

Sounds like the Packers were pressuring him to make a decision right after the season...how can anybody be surprised that a guy as competitive as Favre didn't really have his mind made up?

Packers are doing the smart thing long term. If Favre had come back as the starter I think Rogers would bolt. Losing your future so that your past can play another season seems more than a bit unwise. Favre may have been the better QB for this season but I think it's worth keeping your young guy around.

Excellent point. Someone should have told him that he should have retired sooner, as the dermatology treatments weren't working.

Good idea, especially if he only has to play home games at the end of the season.

Cool

Who doesn't think that doing this hurts a guy's legacy, like Joe Montana to the Chiefs, or whoever he euthanized his career with.

Miami would be stupid to get Favre, he is a short term fix and they need to find a long term solution at QB. Minnesota or Chicago on the other hand could be real contenders with him.

Same with a team like Carolina.

It seemed like only thing Packers could do. Favre and others brought this situation on with the un-retirement thing. Oh, I'm staying in Bilouxi/Gulfport MS right now. There is a street named after Pat Favre. I don't know who the person is, but must be related.
