I like Chinese, I like Chinese. They only come up to your knees, and yet they're always friendly and they're ready to please.

I preferred Showgirls. And Blue Crush. And Bring it On and Flashdance. GI Jane wasn't bad, either.

What was the question?

Hmmm. I can honestly say I have never seen any of those movies, although I tried to watch Showgirls once when I was a teenager, but it was on a scrambled cable channel and I couldn't see a thing.

SoonerCoug: How do you pronounce Zhu? I have a supplier by that name that I only correspond via email and my family and I call him "Zoo." Are we close or for five years have we completely butchered the name?

I hear it Zoo, so I say it Zoo. I have no idea if that's correct, because I'm sure I don't say it quiet like a Chinese person anyway.

Xia sounds like "Shah." Why they don't just write Shah is beyond me.

The Chinese pronunciation would sound like you were saying Jew, except the J sound would be made with your tongue curled up in the back of your mouth.

Hmmm. When I try that, I get "goo." I'm not very good at curling my tongue up in the back of my mouth... I guess if I ever travel to meet him in person, I'll need to get some help.

Isn't it easier to emphasize the devocalization of the "J" sound for beginners?

It sounds closer to a Z than a ZH or J, IMO. It's like a Z with a tiny little bit of zh.

I've always pronounced it more like jew with a softer j but I don't really know the characters
