We are planning on visiting my sister in the Durham area this summer. It looks like the mountains and the coast are within a 2-3 hour drive. Anyone have any suggestions of where to go?

Go to the outer banks, stay in Nags Head or Kitty Hawk. Tons of stuff to do both on the ocean side and sound side. Great places to eat. And there are no crowded beaches or board walks (which some people see as a downside) but that means it isn't trashy and touristy. If you are going to be in Durham, I wouldn't miss it.

I have never been to the NC mountains, but I hear that there is a lot to do in the Asheville area and that it is very pretty. If you and Mike get really adventurous, drive 5 hours north and my wife and I will take you to dinner.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

I love the Outer Banks. I'm not sure it's as close to Durham as it may appear on a map (at least that's what my friends in Durham tell me when I say I'll be in the Outer Banks).

In fact, I'll be in Kitty Hawk this August myself.
