I just don't understand what's wrong with Rushdie.

It's the equivalent of President Hinckley issuing a fatwa for Steve Benson or something.

Even the guy that translated The Satanic Verses into Japanese got murdered.

I think that most muslims get a trial run during the engagement, though. Then they can always back out of the marriage if they're unimpressed.

yeah ,thats true .there is always a chance not to go forward and get married if you couldnot find the desirable features in your fiance.
