This poll is idiotic. Maybe a choice between Thompson and Rudy makes sense, but certainly not Romney.

I voted Mitt because I agree with Waters that Rudy never had a chance with the personal baggage, un-middle American mannerisms and positions, enemies, etc. He may have run the only campaign available to him. I wonder also how badly Rudy really wanted it. He's in love, God bless him.

Per DJ Ross this nomination was Romney's to lose. He had the most money, started soonest, had a tailor made platform, he's young and vital. He was the bionic conservative. It's a cautionary tale, kind of a Shakespearan tragedy.

I would say Rudy by a mile.

Mitt has been far more competitive than anyone believed he could be. The frustration over Mitt's miscalculations should mirror those of any Cinderella that made it to the Final Four--"man, we were so close, if only we didn't miss our free throws at the end, we actually had a shot at this thing."

A few months ago, Rudy was the front runner with all the media mo. His arrogant strategy to bypass the earlier primaries to focus on Florida is a reflection of this ego. He overlooked the basic necessity to at least show up in Iowa and New Hampshire. Rudy supporters should be frustrated because he had something in his hands that he squandered away. Rudy was a #1 seed that got the boot--like when Arizona lost to Santa Clara.

Until about three weeks ago, Romney never had more that 15% of the nationwide vote. For him to double that during the first few weeks of primaries doesn't seem like a campaign run on "incompetence." Too bad though that 30% won't be enough to top McCain.

Guiliani however did just the opposite. He had the lead but cooled his heels, slacked on fundraising, slacked on campaigning, waiting for the sixth primary to make his move. Methinks he decided a couple of months ago that he really didn't want the job after all.

Yeah, at least Mitt showed up to the other primaries. But some folks are letting religion cloud their judgement. Kind of sad, really.

Three days before the Florida election, Mitt was poised to win Florida and was winning the nationwide Rasmussen poll. If he closes out Florida, he has enormous momentum, the republican leaders get behind him, he starts getting endorsements, and becomes the front runner.

That a Mormon candidate with mixed popularity in his home state and little government experience got to that point three days before the election is pretty amazing.

You can't rip Romney for running a bad campaign.
