Default Obama was for banning the sale and transfer of all semi-auto weapons?

Is that true? Very scary.

Not surprising, don't most democrat politicians feel that way? After all, the 2nd ammendment was made for "hunters and sportsmen" - why do you need a semi-auto to kill Bambi?

Of course the don't talk that way anymore because public sentiment has changed, but remember the early 90's? Cue Michael Douglas in the American President: "I'm gonna go house to house and I'm gonna get the guns!" Liberals creamed themselves.

In those cultures, crime is still present and yes, the well financed gangsters can still get guns, but the petty criminals cannot and therefore the rapes, burglaries, hold-ups and the like are not carried out with weapons in hand. The result is far fewer fatalities.

If your goal is fewer people killed during the commission of crimes, you don't like the US gun culture, made possible buy our laws.

If your goal is to be able to resist the eventual takeover of America by the United Nations or a renewed Soviet empire (ala Red Dawn) then you love our current gun policies.
You lived in NYC for too long. And now you are insulated in Happy Valley. Get a clue.

Cool.

Another reason to vote for Obama.

The only reason anyone needs is that he makes us feel good. He inspires, that's what's important. He points us in the direction, then others do the heavy lifting. He's an ideas man. His record is brimming full of inspiration and ideas.

Suddenly, I don't feel so good.

This must be the worst bunch of choices for president we've had in a long time.
  • An old Vietnam War veteran and POW who feels he's owed the presidency by virtue of those six years in Hanoi. He'll scare you into voting for him.
  • A scorned woman who feels she's owed the presidency by virtue of sticking with a serial adulterer who happened to be president. She'll do and say anything short of pleasuring her husband to get elected.
  • A malable Mormon fix-it guy out of central casting lacking the political wherewithall to shed the flip-flip label that all politicians could easily bear.
  • An African American flim flam man with a Muslim name who scoffs at the idea that experience is all that important for someone wishing to be the Leader of the Free World. He'll speak and the masses will follow because he makes them feel good.

The worst?

Are you saying that John Kerry or George W Bush was a better set of options?

Hyperbole, but you get my point.

I was checking because there are some who legitimately believe W to be an amazing President.

I disagree that this crop is terrible. While your synopses of the candidates are not far off, they also only focus on the negative of each person.

The main two that I am considering....Obama and Mitt......have a lot of positives, as well.....ones that either give hope, excite, or enthuse.

The thing about Mitt that I find most interesting, were he to be elected, is that he could completely alter our nation's approach to electing Presidents. Thus far, we tend to elect lawyers or career politicians into office. However, the idea of looking more seriously at career business acumen as the primary qualification is intriguiging. The US is a company, lets get someone who knows how to run companies and do business with other companies.

I like Obama's message of hope. I find him inspiring. He is a great orator. I agree with the critics that he is weak on specific ideas, but after almost 16 years of polarizing partisan hatred, the idea of having a young fresh face in office is appealing. Currently, the worse knock against him is that he lacks experience. A candidate can compensate for that.

Back to the guns......vote for Obama.
