Kickoff returns
It's been awhile since we've seen a really dynamic returner. McKay Jacobson had the great punt return last year against Wyoming, the same game Meikle almost took the opening kickoff to the house. Other than that it has pretty much been a given that the returner won't get past the 25 or 30.
It looks like Mahuika and Collie will be the returners this year. I really like Mahuika as the returner. He's fast and shifty. I'm not as happy about AC returning kicks. I think he'll do fine, but it's a risky position to put our number one receiver in, especially right after his mission. Bronco has mentioned G Pittman as a promising returner. It really would be terrific to see a DB get some time on returns. It says alot about an increase of athleticism in the D backfield. IIRC, James Dye was the last DB to return kicks for BYU and he later moved to hte offense. I also wonder if we'll try that silly scrum handoff that burned us last year against Arizona and BC. I didn't like it because we were always penalized on the play, but it was fun watching Fui come out of that scrum going full bore. |

I don't like Collie back there either.
I wonder why byu didn't use JRob more as a kick returner
