My son woke up this morning with a "cough," "sore throat" and "ear ache." He kept the ruse up for awhile, laying around the house, watching TV and coughing. He admitted later that he wasn't really sick, he just hates 1st grade.

So anyone else get duped like this by their kids?

Aw man! What a let down!! I thought you were going to tell me he crashed the Oktoberfest parade, hijacked a float, and wooed the crowed with a rousing rendition of "Danke Shoen."

That's awesome for a first grader. The kid's got talent. He sounds like he's going to be really talented at missing school.

Mormon Red Death and I had my mother convinced that our lunch time in high school was an hour and twenty minutes long. (We went to my house for lunch almost every day).

I did that all through school. By about the 7th grade I stopped the lies and just said I didn't want to go didn't. I was of course grounded and not allowed out of my room when doing that. Not much of a punishment. Just meant I stayed in my room all day doing what I wanted without being bothered.
