Default What I learned in Relief Society today

1. Sparkling apple cider is essentially the gateway beverage to stiffer drinks.

2. Abusing prescription medications is bad. Also a sign that you're off the straight and narrow: taking a lot of Tylenol or Advil.

You think that's bad, I learned today in Gospel Doctrine that kissing before you get in a serious relationship with someone is bad.

What do you say to that? At some point - if you're like me - you just shake your head and quit piping up.

But sometimes someone needs to speak up and chill those folks out. A little discord won't kill anyone. Plus, if you play your cards right, you'll excuse yourself from any calling of substance for the duration of your sojourn in the area.

I let the first one slide. The second one I piped up saying that Tylenol and Advil are not addictive and that no one needs to worry that they are slipping up if they are taking them.

While Advil and Tylenol are not addictive, it's true that it is a bad idea to take those medications on a daily basis. I have seen patients who have terrible rebound headaches while trying to stop their daily use of over-the-counter pain relievers.

I agree with them on the second one. But did you mean to write non-prescription?

Isn't it? Isn't it?

The only real problem with the Mormon church is that its full of Mormons. ON the other hand, there is a lot of entertainment value there as well.

Of course Advil and Tylenol can have negative side effects, but does taking them mean you are spiritually off course? The lesson was on Uchtdorf's recent conference talk about how being off just by one degree can send you far off course. Taking OTC pain relievers when you weren't really in that much pain was an example given.

Abusing prescription medication was brought up as a way that some members can go off course, spiritually. Then someone brought up taking too much Advil and Tylenol, as if taking Advil every day for your arthritis was the same as going to 5 different doctors for Oxycontin prescriptions.

Overuse of tylenol and ibuprofen is a major medical problem actually.

Yes, they can be and are abused.
