Default Would like to buy a camcorder....

what should I get?

I was watching the Home Shopping Network last night, yes I love the HSN and it is extremely hard not to buy stuff on stretch pay, and they had a Canon ZR500, something like that.....

Took wide screen shots, shot better than DVD quality, had 800 x optical zoom, and 25 x digital zoom, had all the other bells and whistles, etc, and the kicker, the man selling the product used a Canon to record all six years of his son's life....

It was selling for 279.00 plus 12.99 shipping, or five payments of 93.33 on stretch pay.....

Good deal? What should I buy?

Need to record things starting on the honeymoon....

I own that camcorder.

It's an average price, but you can get it at Best buy for the same price basically.

I like it. It's certainly not an 'advanced' camcorder that you'd shoot professional stuff with, but for what you'll use it for, it's a nice camera. I've been happy with mine (I bought it about a month ago).

Canons are very good camcorders. They take solid video. It's very small and compact. However, if you want one that takes pictures as well, the ZR600 is like $50 more and will also take pictures. I also have a POS Digital camera though, so I didn't need/want that feature.

I would certainly recommend Canon.

Have you ever watched the HSN? They have this blonde haired fellow in his thirties that absolutely captivates me....

I almost bought a 42" LCD screen tv last night, and had to kick my phone across the room to not buy the Canon...

He almost had me when he said the camera's lens is made by the same people who make the $100,000 lens you find on the high tech cameras....

I think I would like the ability to take digital photos as I don't want to carry around more than one camera....

Best buy huh? The camera seemed tiny....

It's very small, but for us, that was what we were looking for. The Mrs wanted something that she could put in her purse. Sometimes for dudes with big hands it seems really small, but I manage okay with it and my hands are bigger than normal.

How are the cameras on the camcorders? Do they take quality pictures?

Hahaha...

The cameras on the camcorders are 'alright'. Better than the pics that Cell phones would take, but certainly not as good as a true digital camera would take. Me personally I would rather carry two cameras to make sure that I got better pictures than rely on the camcorder to take them.

And no, I forgot to answer that I don't watch HSN.
