you suck.

next thing you know, you'll be on "So you think you can Dance" with UteStar and YOhio, as a team.

They do require the entire $1000 fee at time of registration. If you want to send me your credit card number, I will see what I can do.

Seriously, though, I don't know how they're going to do it. If they will only allow one pre-registration per finished team, I'll be of no use. If they allow anyone who finished to pre-register a team, I'll be happy to do it. Fuegote may be in a better position to help than I am if he's not tied to a team next year.

Our team is splitting in two for next year. I'm betting they'll let us preregister both teams. It's to their advantage to fill up as quickly as possible--why not let everyone register?

The guy I'm running with is footing the entire bill for registration next year so I'll probably be on his team again (if probably means more than likely).

Speaking of racing for free...
Have you noticed how many teams are scrambling to replace team members who have dropped out? Most of them are offering to cover the entry fee just for a warm body. I'm tempted to just join a last minute team next year and save the $100.

Man this is sucking. I will see if I can't get up there. When and where is the re-registration for next year? at the finish? Can anyone of you going let me know if they will let new teams register up there?

From what I've read, they're only allowing finishing teams to register at the finish line. They're opening up registration to others within the next few days, however, so keep an eye out.

I wouldn't worry too much. They're not going to have 500 teams give them $1000 at the finish line. You'll get a chance.

I got a bit more info.

They are going to allow only teams that finish to register for '09 at the finish line. It is not open to the public. Registration to the public will open at 2 PM on Sunday. They apparently will take registrations until they determine what their cap is. Once that's decided, any teams numbered after the cap will be refunded their entry fee.

Are they bluffing in order to encourage early entries, or do we really need to get in soon if we are serious? I can't imagine 578 team spots would go that quickly.
I don't think they're bluffing. That race is blowing up. The only reason it didn't sell out sooner this year was that the state tourism board, realizing that people from all over the country come to Utah to run this thing, stepped in with a promise of help with permits and road closures in exchange for Ragnar letting everyone who signed up by March 31st into the race. If not for that, my team this year would not have gotten in.
