Default BYU to the Big East, again?

Gosh, I hope that they are just doing this to up the ante with the Big 12.

But I think we need to face reality: Big 12 is not interested in BYU. And BYU will not be able to survive long-term as an independent, if Notre Dame can't.

We may actually end up in a conference that is worse than the old MWC.

BYU's cross divisional rival would be......<drumroll>....Memphis.
Quote:
The Red Division would consist of Louisville, South Florida, Connecticut, San Diego State, SMU, Navy and Memphis. The Blue Division: Cincinnati, Central Florida, Rutgers, Boise State, Houston, Temple and the 14th team.

Each team would play six league games within its division and two games against the other division, including one permanent cross-division rival game. Those annual cross-division matchups would be: Louisville-Cincinnati, USF-UCF, UConn-Rutgers, San Diego State-Boise State, SMU-Houston, Navy-Temple and Memphis versus the 14th team.

What would be cool is if we can get some kind of equal scheduling agreement for BBall with the non-FB schools, like Marquette, Georgetown, Seton Hall, etc. That would do wonders for our BBall success.

The gap between the Big 12 and the Big East is monstrous in terms of annual payouts.

Let's say that Utah is getting $15 million more in TV money every year than BYU (which is about right, I think).

In ten years, that is $150 million more dollars that have rolled into Utah. And this despite the fact that BYU has a larger fan base, etc.

This will have an effect, no doubt about it. We are talking about real money.
