Why is it so exciting?

It sounds like classic little brother syndrome to the Catholic church.

It's exciting that another country has a temple. That's a helluva lot more exciting that announcing temples in Oquirrh or Gila Monster.

For heaven's sake, the Washington DC temple has missionaries from other parts of the United States called to be temple workers, because the members there can't/won't staff it.
It will be a small temple, whereas the DC temple is gigantic.

The word I got regarding the Rome temple was that the Italians "earned it." Of all the attendees of the Swiss Temple, the Italian saints have had an especially strong showing. So that doesn't seem to be much of a concern.

I wonder if it's going to be a nice one, or more like the Dallas stake center, er, temple.

Is it verboten to talk about temple interior decorating and design? Cause I have a few things to say.

It's exciting for me personally. I didn't think this day would come for many more years.

I'm not quite sure I understand the little brother comment. I doubt this was done in direct response to anything the Vatican did.

Stupid barcoded recommends. Just another example of the church trying to intrude on the lives of its members.
