Default A paper I'm writing

I am working on a paper that expresses the controversies surrounding the church's involvement in anti-gay initiatives, specific talks ("To the One", and "For the Young Men Only" both by B. Packer) subjected to criticism, citations from Stuart Matis's letter to his cousin, "God Loveth His Children", and other sources of information. I have lost 3 LDS friends to suicide due to irreconciliation of sexual orientation with the church.

What do you think? I'm open to sources and input.

Dwayne

I think you should do a powerful essay explaining why the LDS Church is not worth suicide, i.e., if it is driving you to suicide, just leave. Everyone is responsible for their own happiness. You seem the right man for the job. Pour your heart and soul into it.

Hey Dwayne,

Nice job with the "gay and mormon" story. You had us going there for a minute. Imagine my surprise when I found out you also happen to be a recently re-baptized and active member with a family:

Stay off our forum you stupid lying bastard.

LOL nice catch. It was too good to be true for the anti-gay-marriage folks to have this guy show up right now.

It's too bad. "Dwayne"s story had me reconsidering my views of gays. I'm just not convinced that the long term committed gay relationship thing is that typical, and it's a pivotal piece of my perspective on the whole issue.

I think he was lying in the other forum. I believe he's gay and has a male lover. I bet he has to go incognito all the time in LDS venues. Not everyone has the backbone to be as authentic as some of us dare to be. He's probably wondering all the time, "What shall I do?" Scared little deer.

Dwayne, write that essay. I believe in you, man.
