I dont understand where this playlist is taking the listener.

It starts out with rap/hip hop, then at about 5AM, there must be a shift change or something because the format switches entirely to alt/indie.

Is it some satellite radio show? Hard to believe that it is all from the same channel.

I think the greatest radio station I have ever encountered is Charlie FM in Portland, Oregon. The motto of Charlie is "we play everything" and they do play everything. The transitions from song to song are often jarring. I didn't necessarily enjoy the music that they played, but I listened for the changes in songs.

For example, one day I was driving and this was the progression:
Haddaway: What is Love
Warren G: Regulators
BTO: (random BTO song that I didn't remember)

If done well, an eclectic mix can be very enjoyable.

However, the radio playlist above is not that. It is 100% one format, then it abruptly switches to the next format. Very weird.

The music seems fine to me, but the programming philosophy is bizarre.

Rachel Bachman was on my mission. Good missionary and kind of cute (through missionary goggles, anyway).

In Redding it's Jack FM but with the same format. I like it because it's like setting your iPod to shuffle to some extent. When I was in LA last I think theirs was called Mike FM. Is that a west coast thing or a nationwide thing?

There was a station int he Bay area int he late 80s that went by "The City" but I can't recall it's actual frequency or call letters. Each DJ was his/her own program director. Whatever they wanted to play they played. It was fabulous and was my favorite station by far. Sadly, they didn't last.

When I lived in the Bay Area I listend 106.1 KMEL or 680 KNBR (for Giants games of course).
