Default Good news for those of you suffering from depression!!

Apparently there's a simple cure that you probably didn't know about. This comes courtesy of bigjoey7 on cougarboard. I'm glad I could be the one to pass on the cure.

It's getting even better now. You just have to "get over it".

Depression runs through my family and BigJoey is a gigantic dumbshit for saying what he did.

Obviously a jackass who has never suffered from depression. Now some of the things he states are actually good things to help with depression. You can get pretty self centered when you are depressed but that is a symptom of the disease not a cause. Helping others is a way to take the focus away from your self, aka remove a symptom, and can help you out. This is something that I have used for myself, but it in no way solves the problem.

As for the just get over it claim, that is nothing but a load of complete bullshit (pardon the language but there is no other way to say it). This is the type of social stigma that keeps people with depression from getting help.

I found it to be quite the opposite, most people who I've encountered with depression have a tendency to be think of themselves as less important then everyone else.

They won't assert themselves because they worry about what others will think of them, so I guess it is kind of a self centeredness.

Did we establish that Joey was just trolling?

I don't think that's always true, though, and it doesn't necessarily contradict the original statement. Just because you think you're crap doesn't mean you aren't spending 24 hours a day thinking about yourself. In fact, one could argue that the latter causes the former.

Classic.

You gotta love bigjoey. Always provides such thoughtful insight. Having solved depression, he should move his sights to world peace. I am sure he has a solution he could share with us.

Hey, guys, bigjoey was trolling.

I find it funny that some of you who have posted in such righteous indignation have also been known to troll at the other board.

Mmm... I love the sweet smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

He was only trolling? I guess you can say anything with impunity as long you are only trolling. "Your mom blows sailors for food stamps. Jusk kidding." Is that what you're talking about?
