Well, if Mike is naming his newest favorite band....
I post this of one of my all-time favorite bands - Armoury Show. (Those of you who were into this kind of music in the early to mid 80s will appreciate it - probably Steel Blue and SoCal):

IlPad, you should scavenge your son's cd collection for an album called "Hot Fuss" by The Killers. They came out of nowhere a couple of years ago and managed to really channel an 80's sound with a fresh take on the genre. I think you'd really like it. They have a new cd called "Sam's Town" that is decent as well.
