Default SRAM vs. Shimano

What's the skinny on SRAM? I know some people are married to a particular brand (like the campy snobs), but where does SRAM come in, to the neutral observer?

Look at this bike. Full SRAM Force groupo which by itself retails for $1800.

16.5 lb.

I've always been a shimano guy, mostly because thats what my first bike came with. Having ridden for awhile now, I like the repsonsiveness of my ultegra drive chain. Dura ace is nice, but overpriced, imo.

SRAM came out with their new double-click system a year or two ago and I've read some negative reviews of it. Its a nice idea, but apparently has not caught on like they had hoped.

The one thing I like about Campy is that you are able to change out the front chain rings independently instead of the unit, if one was going bad but the other 1 or 2 were okay. At least thats the way it used to be. Campy record is still rated higher than shimano stuff, but you'll defintiely pay for it.
