Either the Pope is being rude or someone is awful at scheduling!

The Pope won't be available for the dinner reception in his honor at the White House? Man, how did that work out? |

This was already the case a week or two ago, that he wasn't going to attend.

There is a Catholic choir boys convention at the same time and he couldn't resist the urge to attend.

Alternatively: Hey Pope- what night are you open to have dinner with the President of the United States, members of our Supreme Court, and the most prominent individuals in America who are your supporters? Oh, you say NOT Wednesday? Perfect. Wednesday it is. |

maybe rubbing elbows in the halls of power has little attraction to him. Kudos to him.
I think the Pope probably has more stature in the world than Bush. |

It mostly depends on which one talks first. In Iran you would have to have your people courteously asking for an appointment with top religious leaders,no matter how important you are or how busy your schedule is . Some politicans also keep ayatollah's deputies waitting behind closed doors for some minutes if not hours in an attempt to make an image sometimes. |
