Default $150,000 on clothes....just like the rest of us

I find this story interesting.....

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14805.html

Palin spending about $150K on clothes since August, all on the RNC dime....at high brow places like Needless Markup and SFA.

Hardly fits in with her phony Joe Six Pack persona she wants everyone to embrace.

How many hockey moms spend that kind of scratch in a year, let alone 8 weeks?

The truth is, you can't really blame her faulty intellect on her backwoods existence when she is shopping at some of the finest retailers in the country. She can't even be a hick without messing that up, too.

yeah, I posted this yesterday and didn't get any bites.

You can probably buy a couple of houses in Wasilla for that kind of dough.

We might have a chance. If this is the stuff that you guys are having to hang onto now to discredit her.

I dont think it makes her a bad person. heck, I'd take the free clothes, too.

I am pointing to it as yet another political blunder on her part....or at least the part of her advisors.

Based on your non-response to the issue, I take it that you really have no defense for her egregious behavior? It would be interesting to hear how Repubs can spin this one to make it seem ok.

Absolutely. The only thing left that we *couldn't* argue with was that she's solidly middle class. Now she's blowing that on her own, too. Her clothing is worth 3 years' salary of the voters she's supposed to appeal to.

Egregious behavior is your definition. I consider it part of marketing and if that is how much they think they need to spend on her that is their decision. I am sure in Obama's war chest we could find some pretty egregious spending. Maybe like buying votes somewhere. Of course you wouldn't consider that egregious, you are focused on how much they spend on dressing her.

If you think someone who gets into the political spotlight can remain and act like a "little guy", I have given you far too much credit over the time I have known you on this board.

Again, I don't disagree that it was part of marketing. They need their candidate to look good in her 3 month long job interview.

You keep sidestepping the issue....I am saying it was a political blunder....not a moral one, not an economic one, not a legal one. If she had done her shopping at local shops, discount retailers, etc.....she would have easy leverage over all the Washington fatcats that drop egregious money on Eye-talian suits. Just another lost opportunity for Sarah Barracuda.

The other thing is that the clothing she is buying doesnt even fit her well. She is wasting your political donations on frumpy coats, poochy skirts, etc....I thought Hillary needed a stylist....Palin's wardrobe cries out for sartorial intervention.

Also, why are you so mad at the media? They warned you months ago that the economy was in trouble. You should have listened back then.

Sorry, my life has gotten very serious of late. I manage about $100 million of my clients money and these are not fun times. I use the boards to release pressure not accumulate them. At another time going back and forth with you and your yanking my chain was fun and you are good at it.

By the way, the media didn't warn of shit.

Well, best of luck to you in your business. I can only imagine the pressure. I wish you nothing but success, hermano, for both you and your clients. I am feeling the pinch in the maretplace, but not as directly as you given the nature of your work.

My marketplace/work is simply being awesome, so this downturn has not affected me much.

Best of luck to all of you though with this downturn. On a good note, Palin dumping money onto businesses to look good can only help the economy. Think of that, if Obama used all the money he raised on shopping sprees with his family, we would get pulled right out of this mess.

Obama should simply say "Vote for me and I will spend $600 million on clothes, videogames and socks" and the economy will change. He would have my vote.
