Modern Guilt
I've been listening to Becks new album the last couple of days. It's a trip, it's got a funky beat and I can bug out to it.
Though at 34 minutes, it's really short. |

Orphans is cool. It is a good disc. I like how Beck always takes it into a new direction.
He could have simply tried to recreate "Loser" over and over again, but instead he has given us a nice eclectic mix of sounds over the years. Beck is one artist whose catalog is extremely varied. He is coming to LA at the Hollywood Bowl in Sep, but I am going to be in Provo for the Wyoming game. I really wanted to try to check him out.

Definitely. It's hard to pick a favorite Beck album because the sounds are so different, but they're still Beck. One Foot in the Grave is an odd album, all acoustic, and twangy. One of my favorites Sea Change is sleepy, but a good album to listen to while working. Then you have The Information, Midnight Vultures and Guero with their fun and upbeat jams. Odelay is probably the best microcosm of Beck's work, with Jackass representing his mellow stuff and Where It's At showing his club chops.

My favorite is Sea Change followed closely by Odelay. My favorite song title has to be "Satan Gave Me a Taco".

Interesting tidbit about Odelay!.....when it first came out, Beck said that he named the album after the Chicano slang word.....however, that word is not Odelay.....It is Orale (pronounced Ora-lay)....Beck later changed his story and said that he knew all along that it was the wrong word. Beck needs to brush up on his Spanish.

I haven't download the new one yet, I'm ashamed to say. I LOVED Guero though. Maybe more than Sea Change or Odelay. Black Tambourine comes to my mind unbidden about once a week. Ditto for Earthquake Weather. Love those songs.
Now I definitely need to go download it.
