Why would it contradict what I've said before? To understand where I'm coming from, you have to take as an assumption that a computer ranking for a team is the true rank of that team.

If computers say Hawaii is #12, then they are really #12. They'd be #12, no matter what their SOS was. The SOS is completely irrelevant to a team's strength.

OK, just to clarify: you are saying that to the computers SOS is irrelevant? Obviously you don't feel SOS is irrelevant in judging a team's actual strength?

Take the New England Patriots and hand them Hawaii's schedule. Do the New England Patriots suddenly become anything less than the greatest football team on the planet?

There's your answer. Santos is saying that if the computers have Hawaii at #12, that is DESPITE their SOS.
