It's fascinating to listen to voodoo and have people talk with such assurance. The more sure a person is, in all this bullcrap, the more I know to ignore him/her.
Sureness is a form of persuasion in advocacy, but often is masks insecurities.

I agree, I don't trust somebody who is sure of such positions. Cali's lack of doubt makes me distrust him as well.

This thread should be bookmarked. A year from now it will be interesting to see how effective the so called stimulus was.

how will we know how effective it was? it's not like we are going to observe the future without the stimulus.

Exactly. I'm sure Cali has an expert with an opinion out there though, that will refute your astute observation. After all doing something is better than doing nothing isn't it? Of course can't doing nothing be construed as doing something ... queue Non Sequiter; "don't follow tooblue down the rabbit hole!"

If you want pure economic stimulus (Tex indicated he did on page 1 of this thread), then there are plenty of options available that have nothing to do with tax cuts and which are far more efficient than tax cuts. If you have concerns with the types of spending listed in my previous post for reasons unrelated to their efficiency in stimulating the economy, that is a different debate altogether.
Now who's changing the debate? lol

I was listening to the Diane Rhem show, and someone called in and suggested that poor people be given debit cards, like the FEMA cards after Hurricane Katrina, because poor people are guaranteed to spend that money!!!

This is where the liberal intelligentsia has taken us.

Latest from Rasmussen:

62% want the stimulus to include more tax cuts and less spending
14% want more government spending and fewer tax cuts
20% like the bill "as-is"

What about Democrat voters?

42% want more tax cuts and less spending
22% want more government spending and fewer tax cuts
32% like the bill "as-is"

Overall voter view of the stimulus bill:

37% in favor
43% opposed

On Obama's scare tactics that failure to pass this bill will lead to "catastrophe":

44% agree
41% disagree

Rasmussen calls his latest numbers evidence of a "tug-of-war between the popularity of President Obama and the nation’s deeply ingrained reluctance to increase government spending."

He also notes a CBS poll that showed similar results, including the data that 62% think reducing taxes will do more than increased spending to end the recession.

I guess they aren't listening to that Nobel-prize winning economic genius Paul Krugman.

Is this meant to be the data you cite to support your opinion? Public perception?

lol!

I love debating you, Tex. It always makes me feel smarter than I am.
