Have you ever seen this image of Joseph Smith?
I've seen it before, but thought that it was a painting. Apparently it may be a copy of a daguerrotype submitted to the Library of Congress by Joseph's son.
The only thing about it that looks to be of a photographic nature is the eyes. Everything else looks very much like a painting to me. There is a little blurb below the picture that explains why the hairstyle looks so funny etc... I have no idea of the quality of the website as far as information goes, I only looked at the picture and the little bit of information below it. http://www.comevisit.com/lds/js3photo.htm |

Yes ...
... that is the only reasonably ascertained, actual photo of Joseph Smith. The daguerrotype is the size of a stamp so it gets to look out of proportion and a bit unnatural when blown up to be viewable.
