You know what I mean, idiot. Just as the Church was increasingly shunned b/c of its racist membership policies, so will the Church increasingly be shunned b/c of its discriminatory policies toward homosexuals. As the civil rights movement of the '50s and '60s became increasingly successful, the Church's racist policies became increasingly scorned by society (and rightfully so). The same will happen with gay rights.

Gays who have sex cannot be members of our Church, let alone hold the Priesthood. How will that sit with society in 50 years time?

Anyone who evoke Ghostbusters is alright in my book.

Lebowski, I'm going to take back some of the things I've said about you.

I've got a Baby Ruth candy bar for you.

You've earned it.

Religious prohibitions against homosexuals run much deeper (and with more theological ground) than their racism ever did. I don't see them changing too quickly.

So ... the church should accept gay marriage because the world will pressure it to.

I got news for ya: the church is already in the extreme minority. On a great many things.

So, the LDS Church should seek social acceptance?

If it is the one true church of God, why would it need social acceptance?

Sheesh, I am glad to see somebody has a sense of humor this morning.

What the hell is your problem? Throwing around the "idiot" tag to defend a hypothetical scenario set 50 years in the future is all the game you've got?

Time to regroup, tough-guy.

Waters sets the tone. He's called every one of us a moron one time or other, except for his henchmen Archaea and Lebowski.

Did you see me say I think the Church should/will change its stance? Didn't think so.

My point was that if it doesn't (and I don't think it will), the Church will be under great political and social pressures. How those pressures will be brought to bear, I'm not sure. But you're naive if you think society in fifty years will allow the Church to respectfully disagree without collateral consequences.

For this board, the greatest will be this: Pac-10 teams won't play BYU.
