The sad thing is, reading Cougarboard you get the feeling that they are part of one extreme or the other. So while there might have been 'some' hyberbole there, it wasn't that great.
CB is full of extremism in just about every form. Why should sports be any different?

i have followed recruiting for as long as i can remember, i go to highschool games to watch key BYU recruits i get the recruiting DVDs and i watch all the highlights i can. Knowing what i know recruiting is one of the most inexact sciences ever.

The star system in my opinion is more of a guage of your chances of being a bust. For example:

5 star recruit- 85% chance you make it
4 star recruit- 70% chance you make it
3 star recruit- 50% chance you make it
2 star recruit- 30%
1 star recruit- 10%

Now obviously that is not exact and what exactly does make it mean, well make it for me is based on how highly touted you were, 5 star you want potential all-american, 4 star all conference performer, 3 star starter, 2 star contributor, 1 star had to fill the schollies, hopefully you find a diamond in the rough.

In BYUs recruiting class this past year i see the following players as having the biggest impact by the time there careers are over:

1. Devin Mahina
2. JJ Diluigi
3. Maanaki Vaitai
4. Jordan Pendelton- watch this kid for sure, he is going ot be a stud
5. Austen Jorgensen

5 players i dont see impacting the program much are:

1. Cade Cooper- easy one
2. Scotty Ebert- imo, one of the casualties of offering early
3. Aveni Leung-Wai
4. Tyler Beck
5. Famika Anae

the rest are in the middle for me and i am not sure, i like G Pittman a lot but corner is the hardest position to transition from highschool to college.

Also a few others i think have potential are

kessman
reynolds
Jordan Smith- legit 6'4 and a burner
Levi Mack- would be top 5 if we werent so deep at O-line
Manumaleuna- had one of the biggest hits i have ever seen in a highschool game.
