Mystery season starts this weekend on PBS

bout time. I am interested in the Inspector Lewis series, not sure how good it will be but the pilot they did a few years back wasn't too bad, though he has always come off as bumbling. What I can't wait for is the conclusion to the Foyles War series. Great show. That and Inspector Lynley are some of the best shows on tv. ---------------- Now playing: The Beatles - The Word via FoxyTunes |

It's the British accent.
Who sounds more like he could solve a mystery, Sherlock Holmes or Frank Hardy?

That is a good question, and il pad might have something with the accent, kind of like the film noir was more of an american thing, though Jerico is a good british film noir series.
While americans were writing westerns and playing cowboys and indians, the brits were putting out great mysteries. Heck you even had fruity guys like Lord Peter Wimsey that were solving murders. It is in their upbringing. British tv nowadays is more set up for developing great mysteries. Hard to have a good mystery that is only 40 minutes which is what you get now for an hour of american tv. On the BBC if you need 1 hour 45 to tell your story you get it. Plus in these series they only put out 3 episodes per year on average so they can make them good ones. |
