Default Mafia to Mormon by Mario Facione

Can this one get added to the cougarguard books Mike?

This is the author's story of his career in the mafia and his later conversion to mormonism. He talks about his childhood and family(his actual family), how he got into the mafia, and how he got baptized while he was still in the mafia. A pretty well written book other than the considerable grammatical mistakes, but hey, the guy never finished high school. Even so, it kept my attention rather well.

I listened to this guy do several firesides when I was on my mission in Detroit. He is a pretty good speaker as well. A story that I heard from him that's not in the book(this is from memory from 18 years ago):

'He had been out of the organization for a couple of years and things were really going well for him. He had a job, he was getting back on his feet again, and he had just married a wonderful LDS woman.

Then one day he get served with a complaint out of the blue. He was getting sued by a former associate whose intent it was to ruin him. Many of his associates were furious at him for leaving the business because he was the mastermind of a heavy equipment operation that was making everybody a lot of money at the time that he walked away.

So the first day of the trial arrived. He was almost white with fear because he knew that this lawsuit could wipe him out just he was just getting going again. Just before the trial was to begin, he went into an empty room in the courthouse and got on his knees,

(paraphrased)
"Heavenly Father, I have worked so hard to turn my life around and to become that man that you want me to be. This trial has the potential to wipe me out and everything that I have been working for in order to support my family. Please guide me in the days and weeks ahead in this trial."

So Facione and his attorney go into the courtroom. The judge asks if the defendant is present. Facione's lawyer says that he is. The judge then asks if the plaintiff is present. The plaintiff's attorney responds that he is not present but on a vacation in barbados and that he(the lawyer) would represent him in court. The judge then says angrily,

"When I say that all parties are to be present, I mean that all parties are to be present.

Case dismissed."

Default

just added it. it's at the very bottom.

We've raised 85 cents so far this year, so we could do a little better.
