Flying from Spokane to Seattle on Alaska Air. Gate agent announces they have 7 unused first class seats. He then asks for couples that had been married for 25 or more years traveling with their spouse, he gave them first class seats.

That's why Alaska is a great airline. Same reason Delta sucks. Delta has NO customer service or humor.

Back when I flew enough to get upgraded sometimes, but not a whole lot, I used to hate it when I would get bumped to 1st class when I was on a flight from, say, Chicago to Dallas. I felt I was wasting 1st class Karma and would then have to sit in coach when I was going from Chicago to LA. On that short of a trip, 1st class didn't mean much. I am not surprised that there were 7 extra seats on a Spokane to Seattle flight. Who would want to waste 1st class on that?
