The older I get the less I understand the deep concern with others' worthiness. In the end God will sort it all out. If they are worthy to be there so be it, if they aren't worthy isn't there still residual benefit to the Kingdom with more waiting ancestors getting their chance to move on up...move on up, to the east side to a deluxe apartment is Para-ah-ah-dice! Or if your vicarious endowment was performed by an unworthy patron, do the sentinels tackle your ass as you cross the threshold out of prison and pin you down while informing you that your's is invalid because old boy masturbated to porn without admitting it 9 months prior to officiating on your behalf?

When I am President of the Church I think God is going to tell me to change the temple recommend interview to "are you worthy to go to the temple?"

That move, alone, will save hundreds of Bishops' and Stake Presidents' wayward kids because then their Type A ego driven fathers will have more time for the thankless tasks of spending time with their kids that brings no glories of man.

Think Brethren, when that glorious day comes...you can say with tears streaming down your faces, I was there when Goat told us what he would do when he got the call.........

Good for you, goat. I can't wait.

I am reading a book on the history of temple worship. It is interesting how the whole recommend process (and everything else!) evolved over time. I will write up a summary in a few days.

I miss the old days when they would scan your recommend at the end of the session, like a credit card.

It made me feel like I was building up good credit.

Based on my experience in my BYU ward, it's okay to skip SS as long as you bring back a doughnut for the first counselor in the bishopric.

I know exactly what you're speaking of.

Not agreeing or disagreeing, but isn't someone who can't attend church more than 12 times a year, for no other reason than they just don't want to, kind of missing the point of having a temple recommend in the first place? Are they even aware of what goes on in there?
