Default Roese--too bad

I see Roese is leaving for a very modest promotion. BYU third assistant to San Diego U second assistant.

Roese has been recruiting like a mother at BYU. What has Wardenburg done? He can't even land a recruit he coached in high school. Assistant coach at the college level is about one thing--recruiting. Losing Roese is going to hurt. I wish we would have tried harder to retain him.

Between losing Garrett and Roese moving on consider me concerned about how things are going in the hoop program. Not good indicators IMO.

So much had gone so well for so long...

2005-6: 20 wins, NIT...
2006-7: 25 wins, top 25 ranking, NCAAs...

Yep, I'm rating BYU a strong sell.

I agree completely. Roese was a great force for BYU recruiting, particularly among the Brazilian population. He will be missed tremendously. BYU basketball looks very solid on the outside; I hope this isn't an indication that on the inside it is all falling apart.

Another question on this. Do we lose Otero along with Roese?

I doubt it.

Were you the oldest child in your family? You seem to have a knee jerk, defend the parents stance sometimes. Whomever the "parents/authority figures" may be in a particular post, BYU administration, basketball coaches, Crowton etc, they should feel good about you getting their back. I am big into psychoanalysis.

Well, since the overwhelming response tends to be to assume the worst with any given event, I'm just trying to balance out the universe.

Your question is quite ironic, because I usually find the negative posts I'm responding to are solidly in the knee-jerk camp.

Point taken.

Perhaps it could have gone like this....The loss of Roese etc. can be seen as a toast of the success of the Dave Rose era. It also shows how highly regarded this staff is by outsiders and that we should feel like th program is in very good hands.

Otero isn't Brazilian and to answer your question, my guess is no.
