We now have two sources that are reporting Plaisted is seriously thinking about testing the waters.

I can't imagine that he would be drafted this year.

WHAT??? What are the sources? That sucks. That would be a crushing blow to BYU and sheer stupidity on Plaisted's part. The young man has a lot of learning to do before he's ready to play with the big boys. I'm getting a feeling from Plaisted that he wants to play the 4 or out on the wing because he thinks it would better his chances at the next level, but Rose wants him in the paint at the 5. Maybe his frustration with playing the 5 is the root of this.

Just because I don't think that Player X or Coach Y is the boogeyman who nearly single-handedly destroy teams and programs doesn't mean I think they're flawless.

Plaisted has plenty of things to improve upon. That said, some people seem only capable of harping on his shortcomings and refuse to give him credit for the things he does well or the things he has improved upon.

Does that make me a Plaisted booster? Plaisted going pro now would be a catastrophic mistake. He has the ability to make himself a decent pro prospect, but it will require tons of offseason work and two more seasons in college to get to that point.

Honestly, Plaisted can ride the potential card to a draft pick. I think a team would be wasting a pick on him, but staying in school may not necessarily help him either. I read an article about Nick Fazekas from Nevada who stayed in school and how his draft stock is falling because scouts and teams have had an opportunity to watch him for so long they are dissecting his game to the minutiae.

Basically the knock on Plaisted is he is not good at basketball. That's a pretty big knock!

If he was really that athletic, we would see him dunking in traffic. Which is pretty rare for him.

If he was strong, we would see him posting on the low block. Which he can't against decent defense, because he isn't strong enough.

Too bad we can't transplant Keena's brain and heart into Plaisted's body.

I won't be heartbroken if he leaves. It will allow the other guys to develop, and get us away from the idea that Trent is the key for the next two years.

And given that #2 laid such a big egg, why is it that essentially NO ONE said a whisper about Lee's disappearing act vs. Xavier and instead went after a guy that was infinitely more productive than Lee was?
