I don't know. Perhaps you're not brave enough to post there.

LOL! It's just that I have better things to do than to go Ute hatin' over on that oversized font website.

It's a PC thing and it's a symbol. It's PC in that every team in D1 puts winning conference as their goal and even though we play in a shitty conference, it's disrespectful to the conference and your conference foes not to say winning conference is #1 goal.

It's a symbol in that if you win the conference, you're most likely a good team and you might be good enough to do the things the fans really are about--overall winning record, signature wins, top 25 ranking, bowl performance.

Sorry IPU, you're just wrong on this one. Bottom line is that at BYU a successful season is measured by:

--overall win record
--signature wins
--top 25 ranking
--bowl performance
--conference championship
--win over Utes

Conf champ is just one of the criteria and it could be missing and still be successful. Likewise, missing the majority of the rest of the criteria but hitting on conf championship would feel like a failure to fans.

It's sad the Bronco's number one goal, for example, next year will be to win the conference championship.

There will probably be 45 schools next year whose stated team goal is to go undefeated and win the NC.

BYU will not be one of those schools.

LaVell won a national championship using the same goal hierarchy.

This year's goal was to play in January. They would break the huddle with "JANUARY!" in fall camp. I loved that when I heard it, but I guess they probably don't still say it.

I don't think Bronco is quite the small thinker you believe he is, MW. But I think he's bought into the idea that easy schedule is the way you get respect--the Boise St model.

BYU is 2-6 vs BCS teams during the Bronco era. It's not that we aren't scheduling BCS teams so much as it is the fact we aren't beating them.
