Max Hall 2010
I'm surprised that Max has done this well. That he beat out Leinart in terms of the Cardinal's #2 position (no doubt Max's pittance of a salary factored in), I would have never predicted that. And now the talk that he may be the future of the franchise. Crazy talk!
So I recorded the Cardinals/Rams game, just in case Max might play. Derek Anderson was pretty unimpressive for most of the game. He stepped it up at the end. It would not surprise me at all if Max got onto the field for some significant minutes this year. Anderson has a Delhomme feel to him--washed up. Things could go south for him real quick. |

Max has excelled since being told he's supposed to throw to the red jerseys.

wouldn't it be ironic if Max Hall were to be more successful in the NFL than Alex Smith? I don't know that I can believe it would happen, despite what a huge bust Alex Smith has been.
What is Brian Johnson doing? Is he on a roster? |

Max is maximizing what talent he has. He is not one you would expect to experience any real success in a league where size, speed and power rule supreme.
For moxy and leadership to cause him to rise is a breath of fresh air, but no matter, whatever brief success he enjoys is refreshing.

Brian Johnson was cut in camp from the UFL. That is not a typo. I didn't even know a UFL existed.
He is now a QB coach at UU. Decent college QB, but that's it. |

Max got his first snaps in the NFL today. 1/2 passing, for 3 yards, and 1 interception. This was the last Cardinals possession when the game was out of hand.
I suspect he wil be starting at some point this season. When and if it becomes clear that they are not a playoff team. |

I watched most of Max's second half snaps against the Chargers. He looked .... not so good.
His throwing velocity is so poor compared to the better NFL quarterbacks, that he is an interception waiting to happen. I think the best case scenario for Max would be a Chad Pennington-type career. Very accurate, weak arm. But that would not be a bad career at all in the scheme of things. |

A non-LDS friend emailed me to tell me that Hall is going to start this week against New Orleans. And I see that news reports are out announcing this.
Who would have thunk it? I hope he does well. |

Watched the game. Max Hall had a great game. Given that he is a rookie QB in his first start.
Terrible start to the game for him. Lobbed up an interception. Had some ball security issues as well. A couple of fumbles, including when he tried to run it in for a TD and got hit by 3 guys with crushing tackles that knocked off his helmet and temporarily knocked him out of the game. But luckily AZ ran the fumble in for a TD. In fact, Arizona did not have a rushing or passing TD, but scored three. I'll let you figure that one out. Overall Max settled down, and had a very decent game. Bye week coming up, and it is guaranteed that Max will start the next game. He really stepped up today, looked very sharp for a rookie QB. Congrats to him. |
