Saw "The Wind that Shakes the Barley"
tonight.
It was a very heavy, depressing film. It looked at the Irish War for Independence and the Irish Civil War through two brothers. Supposedly there was some controversy surrounding the film and even trouble getting distribution for it here in the US. There were fears that the movie was a glorification of terrorism. The film doesn't make the Brits look very good, but it could hardly be considered IRA propaganda. I recommend it for people who enjoy historical fiction pieces |
