Thats exactly what my thought was, creek.

Back about 8 years ago when I started working on my own bikes, I had a very tight fitting tire that I couldn't get on by hand and ending up using a spoon and then a flathead screwdriver. I got the tire on, but ending up getting that slow leak that you mentioned. Several times. Over and over again, before I realized what a dufus I was.

Now I try to avoid anything, even levers whenever possible.

But a spoon could possibly do it.

The reason I could describe your experience so precisely was hindsight, not prophecy.
