One word: Sponsors.

Bike Teams don't get their stuff for free and the larger manufacturers give the Cycling teams better deals.

It's not about the bike, but about the engine.

Litespeed can't afford to provide bikes for a team?

Do they sponsor any of the lower level pro teams in the US?

The profit is not there and most bike manufacturers outside of Trek, Giant and Cervello cannot afford it.

I have made several investments within the bike industry and found that most of these barely scrape by.

Bianchi may also sponsor.

I am unaware if Litespeed sponsors any team.

Where I'm getting into a problem is the kit selection. You look at Litespeed and they already have it pre-selected.

I work a deal with the bike shop through the team or with him personally but I don't understand which selections I should make.

They can't use the lightest geasr due to the weight minimums. On the morning of the first Alpine stage the tour officails weighed about 50% of the fields bikes and at lease 5-6 had to ADD as much as 100 grams in weight becasue they were under weight at the time. Even the cannie frames used in the tour are not Cannoindale's lightest becasue the lightest are illegal.

You're right. I forgot about this. The UCI limits bike weight to 15 pounds I believe.

They don't like bike innovation, and are bastards about bike or technological advances. One of my friends invented a spokeless wheel that was faster than anything but didn't receive UCF approval because it would limit others.
