IMO, if you listen with a little humility and set aside some resentment you'll find something to take from every talk, regardless of whether or not it was tailored for your particular situation in life.

Don't start going Tex on us.

One of my greatest amusements on CougarGuard is watching TooBlue routinely get his ass kicked trying to debate untenable positions. TB, get yourself a white flag and have one of those Frenchies up in Canada teach you how to use it.

Neither should feel judged. But at the same time, it's OK on occasion for the church to clarify it's position on what is the ideal life for us to live.

If I have trouble supporting my family, I don't need to feel like killing myself everytime I go to priesthood meeting. But at the same time, it's good for them to remind all the young men how important it is to prepare to support a family. And I can take what they're saying for myself to see if there's something I can improve on.

Butt kicked? Don't think so buddy. The simple fact I don't wave the white flag means my position is far from untenable. Hence your desire to predict victory is born of the uncertainty of your convictions ... it's akin to Iran claiming there are no Iranian homosexuals

FYI, I like Sister Beck. She gives a talk in a normal tone of voice. No spiritual voice.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
that's a great quote. mandela used it during his inaguration speech, but it comes originally from lady poet or author

Your problem, Req, is that you think this is what she said.
