El Paso, just because you left the church, I doubt if you'd start being a dickhead.

(I wonder where SU is? I'll pinch hit)

I used to believe. I took it all very seriously. I decided I just couldn't believe it anymore & went off into a dark period of doubt & anxiety. It was not fun, at all. All things considered, I don't recommend this course. (My hunch is SU would agree with this, to some extent)

I believe again, but in a very different set of beliefs than I had before. I can understand how some of you guys think you'd conclude there is no higher power, and that was essentially where I was. It was pretty scary, to be honest with you. I admire those who can effectively put their doubts "on the shelf".

After a lot of soul searching, tons of reading, contemplation, prayer and attending many religious ceremonies / spiritual experiences (in both formal and informal belief systems, christian and non), I've come to a very good place in my own spiritual journey. It hasn't been easy, but I'm in a much better place, a position I can rationalize much better, my own "faith" is pretty strong, not really subject to any litmus tests.

The anger others feel is understandable... I've been there, sometimes I still get bent, but for the most part, I feel I'm past that. Time heals.

Have I completely "left" the church? You can't shed your upbringing completely, and I find these topics to be very interesting.

There is so much in Mormonism that is positive and attractive... "true". The same can be said for just about all other faith systems.

(Waters - I'm not trying knock anyone off their beliefs, honest.)

I agree I that in terms of winning converts to my creed my record is worse than the Miami Dolphins last year. But I am very tenacious. I will keep trying only because it is the right thing to do.
