Somehow it seems easier for these people to believe that god is a racist asshole than Joseph Fielding Smith. go figure.
Well stated....that pretty much sums it up.

It's nice that we can now laugh about our past leaders. I guess after enough time has past, even sexual predators can seem funny.

Just because mortals like prophets and rank and file members engaged in incorrect, baseless racist theories to explain the ban doesn't mean that God's motivation was borne of ancient grudges, bizarre dislike of a distinct subset of his own spiritual offspring or whatever.

I don't believe God was behind the ban, but if for some reason my belief is misplaced, I would agree God isn't racist.

I'm not trying to bait you. Promise.

What kind of alternative reasons could there be?

We're not really going down this road again are we? I guess given the quotes, it was inevitable.

I'm not God. I don't have any theories on why he set the speed of light to 186,000 mps instead of 1,000,000 mps either.

Because that would be too fast. Duh.

What was the reason why the Gospel was initially withheld from the Gentiles?

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/matt/10/5#5

It wasn't all that long before the green light was eventually given to go beyond the House of Israel anyway, so why not let the disciples go where they may?

Christ didn't preach to the Gentiles either during his mortal ministry, as far we know, other than a brief encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well.

I don't have any good explanation for why God refused to preach to anyone other than those from the House of Israel.

What did God have against the Chinese or the aboriginal Australians? As far as we know, it took them over 1,000 years to learn about Christ's existence.

Whatever reason(s) for the above may or may not be related to the priesthood ban for the blacks, the simple fact remains that I can't come up with adequate rationale for either situation where certain people(s) got preferential treatment from God.
