Agreed. If you're going to beat up on the Catholics, you have to beat up on all western religions, LDS included. The whole "Church of the Devil" nomenclature is sensationalist to the point of parody.

Two points:

1) In those chapters I thought Nephi was seeing the future, for example Columbus coming to America? If so, why couldn't he foresee the future Roman Catholic Church?

2) I think "the church of the devil" is any individual or organization that is actively engaged in opposing the Lord's church. It does not have to be a single assembled entity. For example "the stakes of zion" is not one stake located in SLC or Independence, but rather is branched out in thousands of stakes worldwide. Aaron Shaf is a member of the church of the devil, as are the Tanners, as was King Noah.
