Zoob, zoot. It's all the same, really. We Utes just don't want you guys trying to push him back on us, ya know? After all, he chose you.

So why hasn't BYU been motivated in the past? Check out the records in the last 10-15 years and then read some of the post-game comments by the BYU players. Wow. Gotta leave so I don't use any 'grownup' language. |

That you stated that zoobs like to fund excuses, I'll give you credit. You understand losses.

Find me a quote from a BYU player that says "we weren't motivated".

I am sure both team use bulletin board material. However, unlike you they are past using material that got you fired up for your ward scout BB games.

The academic talk is just puffery. Everyone knows academic pursuits are secondary at BYU. He's saying they come to BYU to reinforce their Mormon beliefs, to get indoctrinated. Any student or professor who says anything at BYU that may undermine that mission gets booted out. I think at BYU DI athletics is probably even a higher priority than academics.

I don't bat an eye any longer when I hear a football coached who probably majored in football talk about academics. This rhetoric is designed for the university president and perhaps BoTs. In fact, I wish coaches ignored it altogether except as is needed to keep the guys eligible. These guys are football players first, although I find Kehl's credentials of mechanical engineering quite impressive.
