That's the difference. I don't believe in moral victories either, but there is no chance in winning a game where you need 4 TDs instead of 2. But when you're down by as much as we are you have to throw to try and get back in the game. We then force our struggling O-line to block for our struggling QB who is throwing to our two receiving threats who are struggling to get open.

In tight games plenty can happen. Anae should have tried to control field position and the clock. When the D couldn't stop TCU the offense should have made adjustments and they didn't. That's what I am disappointed in.

What part of this responsibility did Anae bear and how would running have affected that?

i don't understand what we were doing with the tackles. We spread wide and we still couldn't push out the D ends. We looked ridiculous.

Anae could have done a few things. He could have slowed the game down and grinded things out by keeping the clock going and the TCU offense off the field for one. BYU was certainly capable of doing the 7+ minute drive they converted in the 3rd quarter in the first or second. That keeps the game closer in the first half by probably taking a score off the board for TCU. When we needed to score to get back into the game, he could have opened the playbook up some to counter TCU's blitz and speed. Screens, draws, counters. He also should have tried to up the tempo when the game was too far out of reach to try and grind things out. They should have come out in the second half with a hurry up offense or something to try and put TCU on their heels a bit and move the ball quickly.

I'm not blaming Anae for the lousy defense. Both sides of the ball needed to make adjustments and neither did. But I certainly believe that there are things that Anae could have done to help out our struggling defense.

What didn't help was that we were in shotgun and then Hall was taking a 5 step drop. That far deep in the pocket the tackles have little angle to work with. Speed kills them in a straight line to Hall.
