She didn't need him to give her work credence. But yes, Nibley's No Ma'am is a model of defensiveness. It's an interesting glimpse into Nibley's psyche, though. I especially like all of his angry references to "the lady. . . "

They died not long from one another. Brodie's Wikipedia article dwarfs Brooks'. It's a shame Brooks' second husband made her quit working to raise his kids.

He is lionized everywhere but Utah. That's my point. Go to the St. Louis arch and in the bookstore there is a whole wall devoted to him, like a shrine.
