Heaven help us if start getting disciplined for our thoughts.
Express that thought in spoken word or writ, watch out. You have "acted."

Excommunication is being kicked out the club whose members have sole right to heaven. Remember that.

I had never considered that question until today. You can make an argument that those who do not support Prop 8 sympathize with groups who are in contrast to the teachings of the Church.

I dont necessarily agree with it, but it isnt outlandish.
Sadly, I sm sure there are bishops who would do this. I recall 2-3 years ago there was a guy who was denied a temple recommend for admitting his disagreement with the church's anti-gay marriage stance. He discussed it on his blog. At the time, the church had a press release on lds.org specifically stating that opposition to the church's stance on gay-marriage amendment would not result in disciplinary action. His bishop was obviously out of line. I wrote to the guy and pointed out the passage on church website. He hadn't seen it and was going to show it to his bishop. I wonder how it turned out.

If he were in the YM program it would get him out of all the temple duties with baptisms, should that be his desire.

Actually if he was with the YM, the Bishop probably would have let him slide, knowing that the YM are often short on Melch. Pr. holders.

I think this is the core of my question.....is there a standard interpretation for that question....what constitutes "sympathy?" My guess is that the answer is no, but I cannot say for sure. Some Bishops and SPs would act differently than others.

If what T Blue said is true, Bishops/SPs in Provo would be more strict and thus require more conformity on this particular issue?

Fortunately, T Blue does not speak for all clergy in Utah.

Speaking of speaking for all clergy in Utah, where is Tex when he is needed? I want an answer!

Tell that to the September Six.

No, I don't think so.

It was for AA's benefit.
